Give Back Moment: Bid on The Light and Support Indigenous-Led Organizations

At the 2024 International Cooperation Futures Forum, Métis artist Colleen Gray created a live painting inspired by three days of transformative dialogue and collaboration. Titled “The Light,” this remarkable artwork symbolizes hope, resilience, and the courage to drive change.

      The Story Behind The Light

“The Light” portrays a woman seated on the edge of a cliff, holding a flame that connects her to the universe. Above her, the constellation Cassiopeia shines as a beacon of hope, balanced by Perseus, embodying strength. Her precarious position reflects the challenges of forging a path for positive change, even when no clear way forward is visible. The constellations in the painting are accurately placed as they appear in Ottawa’s October night sky, grounding the piece in the time and space of the Futures Forum.

      A Unique Opportunity for Organizations

We invite organizations to bid on the original painting, The Light, a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that captures the essence of hope and the courage to lead change. By securing this painting, your organization will support critical Indigenous-led initiatives while showcasing its commitment to reconciliation.

Funds raised from the auction will benefit Minwaashin Lodge, an Indigenous Women’s Support Centre in Ottawa, providing essential programs for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis women and children, including survivors of violence and those impacted by the residential school system.

      Two Ways to Support

      • Bid on the Original Painting

Own a meaningful piece of art that symbolizes hope and resilience. Bidding is available, with proceeds supporting Minwaashin Lodge’s vital work.

You may also donate to Minwaashin Lodge  if you prefer.

      • Purchase Limited-Edition Prints

Support Art for Aid by purchasing a signed limited-edition print of The Light. Proceeds will provide art supplies and fund cultural programs for Indigenous youth in remote communities. Each print includes the story behind the painting.

      Why Participate?

      ·        Showcase Leadership: Align your organization’s strategy on reconciliation and community impact.

      ·        Inspire Others: Share a meaningful piece of art with your community.

      ·        Make a Difference: Support Indigenous-led programs and youth initiatives.

      Act Now

Bid on “The Light” or purchase a limited-edition print today to support Indigenous-led organizations and foster positive change.

      L’histoire de « The Light »
