Charity Auctions Today was started back in 2007 when the owner Tom Kelly was helping his mother look for a way to run a online charity auction for a local non profit she was a member of. After searching the few online charity auction companies at the time, he found that every company charged huge upfront fees and a large percentage of the many they would raise. With the local non profit raising an average of $3000 per auction, after the upfront cost and percentage fee, they would be left with almost nothing.

With that in mind, Tom thought he could do much better. He created a simple online auction site for the local non profit and things seemed to work just fine. After the success of the first auction and the fact that the non profit organization was able to keep 100% of the money raised, word quickly spread. Tom had more and more organizations wanting to use his site and he quickly found that his simple auction site was not built for the Charity Auction industry. People complained that the site was not user friendly and just did not have all the features they needed to run a successful charity auction online.

After receiving and implementing hundreds of suggestions and taking the needs of several different industries, he started from the ground up and built CharityAuctionsToday.com. Charity Auctions Today is your complete online fundraising portal. From one website, you get 3 different fundraising software’s. Even after the new site was complete, several people told Tom that he can now start charging a percentage of sales because our site was so advanced and currently the only one to offer 3 fundraising software’s in one. But Tom told them all NO and that we are sticking with our his basic vision for the site. A site that lets small and medium organizations raise money online with very low fees and that allows them to keep 100% of the money they raise.

“Non Profit organizations fundraise because they need to raise money to survive. The money they raise goes to help local communities, schools, cure diseases and millions of other worthy causes. So why should they be punished by paying a percentage of the money THEY raise, just for using a software to help them. I don’t raise the money for them, I just provide a platform so its easier for them to do it on their own. So if I’m not doing any of the work, why should I take a percentage? I already created the software, I don’t need to re-create it every time a new member signs up. I feel charging a percentage is just like stealing from them. That is why I will never let that happen.” Tom Kelly said.
