Hello and welcome to the Doberman Pinscher Club of Sacramento (DPCS) Fall Specialty Auction! This is similar to the online auction we held in November 2023, with a twist -- these items will be available to view in person the first day of our California Dreamin' Fall Specialty in Woodland (Saturday, September 21).
Where did these auction items come from?
All of the Doberman items you see here are from the estate of Joyce Miller, a California Doberman owner and handler who passed away in 2000. In her will, Joyce stipulated that her vast collection of Doberman memorabilia be donated to a club, as she wanted the items in her collection to be treasured by others who love the breed as much as she did. We have greatly enjoyed examining and cataloguing the items Joyce so graciously gave to the club, and we're excited to be able to share them with you! All proceeds raised will be used to promote and educate the public about the Doberman breed.
What kind of condition are these items in?
Everything you see here has been cleaned to the best of our ability and inspected carefully. Many items are in perfect shape, while some of the vintage items show wear and tear consistent with their age. Several came to us with broken parts (mainly ear tips!) which we have carefully repaired to the best of our ability. We have described any repairs, and tried to note every remaining flaw, in the descriptions and photos. If you have any specific questions or concerns about an item, please let us know prior to the day of the auction. We'll be happy to tell you more and send you additional photos.
Where did you get the background info on these items, and how did you determine starting bids?
We've spent a lot of time researching each item, in the hopes of giving their new owners as much background information as possible. We used many sources: the Doberman book "The History of the Doberman Pinscher as Depicted Through Collectibles, Art and Literature" by L.A. Lanier and K.L. Moore, eBay, Pinterest, Etsy, and online auction sites. If we were able to find comparable items for sale online, we noted our findings in the description.
I don't live near Sacramento and won't be at the show. Do you ship?
Yes! All of these items have been carefully pre-wrapped, boxed, weighed and measured. When you bid, you can choose the shipping option and enter your zip code to determine the exact shipping cost.
I live locally. Can I pick up my item to avoid shipping?
Yes! If you are physically present at our September 21 event, you can take your winning item home with you. If you live locally but aren't going to be at the show, that's ok too. When you bid, choose the local pickup option, and we'll make arrangements with you after the auction to get your item to you!
Can you combine shipping on items?
We wish we could, but that's one limitation on this software. Postage for each item must be calculated independently.
Can you ship outside of the United States?
Unfortunately, we can't do that through the software program we're using. If you live outside of the U.S. and have your heart set on an item, let us know before the auction closing day and we can calculate what the shipping costs would be. If you don't mind paying for international shipping, you can choose the "local pickup" option (which just means you won't be charged for domestic shipping) when you bid and we can arrange for separate payment for shipping if you are the winning bidder.
When will I receive my item?
You will have the option to choose from several shipping methods through USPS. Our goal is to mail out all items on Monday, September 23. (If there's any kind of delay, we'll let you know!)
Thank you for browsing through our auction, and for supporting our efforts to preserve the Doberman breed!
Please note that none of these items are new. Most of them were donated to us by the Estate of Joyce Miller, a California Doberman breeder and handler who very much wanted her collection of Doberman memorabilia to find new homes with people who would treasure the items as much as she did. We were honored to recieve so many lovely things that she collected over decades of raising and showing dogs.
We have lovingly cleaned and catalogued every item in this auction. In most cases, there are signs of age (these are vintage items!). We've done our best to note any flaws or repairs in the description. If you want more information about an item, ask us! (You can reach us through our club's Facebook messenger, or send an email to kmacinty@yahoo.com.)
YES, WE WILL SHIP!
The DPCS is holding two Specialties in Woodland on Sept. 21 and 22. This auction will close on the first day, Saturday, Sept. 21, at noon. We'll have all of these items on display at the show; if you win, you can take it home with you!
If you're not attending the show, that's ok too -- our online format lets people bid from anywhere in the United States! (Sorry, we are limited to U.S. shipments at this time.) Before you bid, you can enter your zip code and we'll calculate the exact shipping cost for you. No surprises!
Unfortunately, we are not able to bundle shipping (for winners of multiple items) through Charity Auctions Now. However, if you've got your eye on more than one item, contact us by noon on Sept. 20 and we may be able to figure out a workaround.
