Luckily for me, in my early elementary years I frequented my neighbor’s art studio, otherwise know as “Magic School.” We made all kinds of things: wire-wrapped sea glass necklaces, clay beads, stained glass pendants, etc. Our lifelong joke has been that the lead-based solder we used in those days sparked a little extra creative zeal in us. I have always had a small business selling my artwork. In addition to jewelry, I studied weaving and hand painted silk, and owned a successful business called Sumptuous Silks, from 1987-1993.
