Weekend Getaway on Au Train Bay

Think of the best weekend getaway you can imagine: Is it on Lake Superior? Right on the shore, with a perfect protected bay for swimming and lounging in the sun? How about the accomodations--everyone likes the idea of camping, minus the sleeping-in-tents part, and cabins can feel too closed-in when it's nice out. But yurts are the perfect combination of both, with wood floors, plenty of space, and actual beds! I bet your ideal getaway isn't too terribly far, but definitely the kind of place that makes you feel like you're almost in a new, unexplored world. 

Brock and Jane's camp on the Au Train Bay is difficult to beat as far as weekend havens go, and now you have the chance to bring your whole family out to the camp for the perfect combination of woods and water, rustic and lush. 

The camp comfortably sleeps 8 and is only about a half-hour's drive from marquette, boasting two low-ecological-impact yurts, a gorgeous sandstone beach, and walking paths.

Each yurt has a woodstove, beds/cots, and dining space, and there's a wood-heated sauna just a few steps away with easy access to the lake for a refreshing dip after you steam. There is also a fully-stocked kitchen and picnic area--you can cook inside or out depending on your mood or the weather! While there's no running water or electricity, an outhouse and the world's largest source of freshwater are there for you. A small solar panel will provide enough light for you to charge a cell phone (though you may not have service) and provide some light on the path at night. 

You'll leave your car and your city worries at the trailhead and follow a whimsical trail about a quarter of a mile through a close hemlock and birch forest. The camp is nearly surrounded by national forest, so your neighbors will be the trees and waves.
