Anishnabe-led Moose Research Project
Small Change Fund is honoured to partner with the Anishnabe Moose Research Committee on a project to protect moose in La Vérendrye Wildlife Park, which is on the unceded traditional territory of the Algonquin people.
The moose population in the park has dropped by over a third in the past dozen years - a significant decline. The remaining population is threatened by sport hunting, logging, mining, climate change, disease and parasites. The marked decline in moose numbers is of great concern to the Algonquin Anishnabe Nation as moose are vital for their way of life and community.
