Upcycled " Love What You Do" Painting, by artist Michael Metcalf
Born and raised in Sumner Washington, Michael Metcalf is a visionary artist who started creating up-cycled artwork over 20 years ago. Michael is known for his originality that cannot be found anywhere in the world. His vision has built homes, restaurants, and bars from A to Z with one of a kind creations intertwined into the entire process.
Michael started his first business “Everything Under The Sun” selling handmade recycled goods at the age of 13 and eventually was contracted by large corporations like Nordstrom’s to display a recycled art booth in their department store. Michael Metcalf was also featured by country living magazine in the early 90s for never seen before recycled remodels. Afterwards Michael spent the next few years teaching, parenting, coaching and exploring life with his family.
He started his Baltimore career in 2005 making beer art and event promotions out of recycled materials at Max’s Taphouse in the historic Fells Point, Baltimore, MD.
Recently, Michael Metcalf has taken his art career on full time to follow his lifelong dream of being a visionary artist. His work includes canvas paintings, beer art, custom recycled remodels/design, and a unique way to brand yourself.
Understanding, designing, and working in the home, restaurant, bar and retail construction industry has developed Michael Metcalf into a well-known and prominent figure in the West and East coast art communities. He has been contracted by The Loading Dock, The Visionary Art Museum, Lobo, Admiral Fell Inn and other prominant Baltimore companies. Michael has exhibited at the Herbert Bearman Art Gallery at the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park Museum.
He does not only do business settings but has many years of experience
designing residential spaces from kitchens to fully custom basement
bars. Knowing the fact that the larger proportion of his material are
from Recycled goods, the costs and designs are beautiful and economical
for the owners. Owners have been astounded at the outcomes.
Michael has recently taken his career to the next level by accepting to be represented by Artist-ADA, LLC at the South Art Basel Event.
