Wild Hogs and Waterfowl in Texas

You and 2 guests will spend two days and two nights at a private ranch in North Texas hunting waterfowl in the morning and wild hogs in the afternoon and early evening. The waterfowl hunting is superb, with several species of puddle ducks and divers frequenting the many small ponds on the ranch. Wild hogs run rampant in this part of Texas.

Each day will begin well before daylight with a hot breakfast and strong coffee. You will then be delivered to the duck blind, and guided by Kevin McConnell, a world-renowned waterfowler, who will place decoys, call the birds, and work his trusty retriever Roux to fetch the downed birds. Your group will harvest gadwalls, widgeon, pintail, canvasbacks, teal, a few mallards, and if you’re lucky a sandhill crane or two (aka the ribeye of the sky).

After the morning hunt, you will return to the camp for lunch and a well-deserved nap. Later that afternoon Kevin will drive you to a few likely spots for wild hogs. Kevin has a tremendous amount of disdain for this vile, invasive species and when located you and your guests will be expected to dispatch the vermin with extreme prejudice. A little after dark everyone will return to camp for a steak dinner and whiskey drinks around the campfire.

At the completion of your hunt, Kevin will clean and prepare your harvested game for travel home. Accommodations are campy but comfortable, the food is fair yet profuse, but your host is energetic and jovial. Sign up and let’s do this!!!
