Tim Simpson

Tim Simpson grew up in Middleton, Tennessee, about an hour east of Memphis. He s a graduate of Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, and studied meteorology through the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University.

If there’s a tornado warning for any of our counties we stay on for the duration of that warning, making sure that our viewers have the life saving information they need. Tim says, “While severe weather cut-ins can be an inconvenience to some, I can’t tell you the number of people I’ve met through the years who credit our coverage with saving their lives during a tornado event. We know for a fact that our coverage can make a difference between life and death for those in the path of a tornado.

Tim forecasts the weather for News Channel 3 at 4, 4:30, 6 each weekday. But forecasting weather is only part of his job, he also speaks at schools, churches and civic groups around the Mid-South about weather and severe weather in particular. When severe weather strikes, you’ll most likely see Tim broadcasting live on News Channel 3.
