Blue Mountain Winter #2 by Sarah Sutro

Catch a rare glimpse of BMC in winter from artist Sarah Sutro (1985) who was one of a few people who participated in our winter session!

One of two framed watercolors, 11x18"(15x21"framed) painted in one of the rare winter sessions in 1985, from the Grey Cottage.

Always engaged with nature, Sarah often painted in watercolor at BMC, on the lake, by the shore, in the fields, finding patterns and shadows that lyrically capture land and water. The paintings move from figuration to abstraction, whether in acrylic, natural ink or oil, and are in many collections including Boston Public Library, Ossabaw Island Foundation, and the Boston Athenaeum. She was last at BMC for the Water residency in 2009,  and counts Blue Mountain as one of her favorite places for painting and meeting people. Her work can be seen on the staircase in the Main House.
