Creative Writing Coaching Session with Catina Bacote

Catina Bacote, 2021 BMC resident and writer has generously offered the following experience of creative writing coaching: 

We will have a one-hour virtual creative writing coaching session. You might bring a work in progress to discuss. You can read an excerpt and share your goals and questions. I will serve as a sounding board and partner as you think through your project. We can also talk about the business of writing, including publishing in literary journals, applying for residencies and fellowships.

Here is a bit about me:
Originally from New Haven, Connecticut, Catina Bacote is a nonfiction writer. Her essays have appeared in Ploughshares, Tin House, Gettysburg Review, TriQuarterly, December Magazine, Gulf Coast, Kweli, The Common, Southern California Review, Prairie Schooner, and the anthology This Is the Place: Women Writing About Home. She is a 2021-2022 Jerome Hill Artist and American Association of University Women Fellow. Her writing has been supported by the Ann Cox Chambers Long-form Journalism Fellowship from MacDowell, the Alice Judson Hayes Social Justice Fellowship from Ragdale, and eight other residencies. She holds an MA from Teachers College, Columbia University, an MFA from the University of Iowa, and currently teaches creative writing at St. John’s University in New York City.
