Slim Aaron's "Poolside Gossip" photograph signed by Nelda Linsk

Seen in almost every midcentury modern interior around the world is the most iconic Palm Springs photograph known by all as “Poolside Gossip”, by famed photographer Slim Aarons. What makes this auction item most desirable is that Nelda Linsk, the woman who will always be known as “the chic woman in yellow”, in the photograph, signed this framed photograph. Now that’s special!

The setting—A desert house in Palm Springs designed by Richard Neutra for Edgar J. Kaufmann in 1946. Lita Baron (far left) approaches Helen Dzo Dzo (left, in white) and Nelda Linsk (right, in yellow). Nelda and her husband, art dealer Joseph Linsk, were owners of the Kaufmann house at the time. When the photograph was taken in January 1970, she was having a casual afternoon pool party for a very fashionable group of her Palm Springs friends, including her next-door neighbor, industrial designer Raymond Loewy.

Befitting the signature of Nelda Linsk, this large format photo, 57.5” x 40.5”, will take pride of place in your home and you’ll be the envy of your modernista friends. The framed photograph is an authorized Getty Images C-type high quality print, with crisp detail, continuous tone and vibrancy. Getty Images prints are produced in cooperation with leading London print labs, using original transparencies from the world-renowned Slim Aarons Photography Archives. Included is a certificate of authenticity.
