About the Artist

A graphic artist is generally considered to be someone who creates imagery without using words to express ideas. A graphic designer is a someone who provides visual solutions to communication problems. Kuni Kobashi as a surfing enthusiast, passionate yogi and a Carlsbad local, does both Graphic art and design (and some photography as well). He used to be a semi-professional musician back then when he was in Tokyo where he originally came from. His creation journey has begun since. He wrote many songs, performed them as a 3-piece band in many places, then the band came within an inch of winning a record deal, it didn’t go through, however. This was the first setback for him. Right after that he was fortunately and unexpectedly offered to join Sony Music and started working for business management section of the company, which means he made a decision to step away from being creative as an artist --- a decade passed. Various things happened during the era including moving into California---More years passed. He was unpredictably kicked out from the company that once offered him to come on board. Great. This was the second large setback. He nonetheless reacted positively and ended up thinking this might be an awesome opportunity to re-explore who he was supposed to be – a creator. He started drawing anything he felt he wanted to express, and the creative journey has at last resumed... with slight hope of that his creativity remains and it still has some vigor to bring people little joys, smiles, laughs and some chill vibe…
