I have been exploring various facets of bent-lamination (a method of bending wood, where the method renders each piece much stronger).
The Butterfly Stand is of course called that because of the shape of the original burl.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
He has specialized in various techniques of wood lamination. The bent wood procedure involves the the use of strips flexible enough to assume a desired curve without fracturing, then reassembling, gluing, bending, and clamping these strips to a mold. He has exhibited widely throughout Canada and the USA.
