To Pacific Herring

With this work I wished to represent the connection of pacific herrings with the complex world of the Great Bear Rainforest. The light turquoise color they bring to the coastal waters when they come to spawn, and the excitement and joy they summon in the wild and human communities are a real gift, nourishing for the body and the spirit, of which I deeply feel the magic…This work is my way to say "Grazie", "Thank you" for this wonder, to share my fascination and the urge to protect these animals from the risk of overfishing. A fun fact is, that the case of my cello -who's been following me in travels and adventures for 10 years now- is actually that same turquoise color...and I only realized that a few days ago, while working on this drawing! Materials: Ink, pencil and watercolor on paper
