The Queen of Lamar (PRO)

The Queen of Lamar honours the life of every Wolf in Yellowstone National Park. Their bloodlines originate from the Wolves captured in both ALBERTA and BRITISH COLUMBIA in 1995 for the greatest conservation reintroduction venture in North America : The Wolf Reintroduction project in Yellowstone National Park. The Queen of Lamar was an Alpha female Wolf called SPITFIRE (926F) who carried on the legacy of her famous mother 06 - whose story is told in the book "American Wolf" by Nate Blakeslee. When Spitfire was killed just outside of the park boundaries like her mother, millions mourned her death. I wanted to convey her Spirit permeating the land that continues to be a safe haven for Wolves and provides sanctuary for all her descendants. Acrylic on artist paper 11by17
