Design: Each design element in the rug has a different pile height—the fuscia silk has the highest pile, while the light grey pile is cut very low, giving the rug a lot of texture.

Designer's inspiration: This rug design was inspired by a field of bright magenta brush breaking through a layer of irregular glacial granite stones, creating an odd yet balanced pairing.

About: John Day is a principal at Cambridge, Massachusetts–based LDa Architecture and Interiors, where he focuses on creating seamless spaces through the fusion of architecture and interior design. Among his many career highlights: overseeing the design and green specifications at the first LEED Platinum and Net Zero home in Massachusetts.
